Disney World is shutting down for Hurricane Irma
Florida won’t be the happiest place on earth this
weekend.
Walt Disney World
announced Friday that it’ll be shutting down its parks his weekend, in
fear that Hurricane Irma could come rumbling through Orlando and central
Florida.
Throughout this past week, Disney officials said they
were expecting to keep “The Most Magical Place on Earth” open. But the company
changed course on Friday.
The Disney parks and attractions will close up shop at
points between Friday night and Saturday night.
“Based on the latest forecasts for Hurricane Irma and
keeping safety top of mind, Walt Disney World Resort will be closing early on
Saturday,” according to a company statement. “Resort hotels will remain open.”
All tickets and pre-paid meals will be refunded, the
company said.
Disney plans to re-open its parks on Tuesday morning.
